Raffle Quilt - Fabric Appeal
We are planning on making a quilt to be raffled during our 2016 exhibition at Lady Sew and Sew. The
proceeds will go to our own funds. So we are hoping to have to buy only the wadding, making both the front and back from donated
fabrics.
So, come on! Break into your stash! You know those fabrics you bought thinking they looked great at a show, but don't look quite the
same when you get them home. Or those that have been at the bottom of your stash for over 5 years. Are you REALLY going to do
something with them after all this time? And what about the fabrics that have been passed on to you that really aren't your thing.
We would LOVE to take all this fabric off your hands. Just imagine the great feeling when you've had a clearout. Apart from
anything else it'll give you the opportunity (and the excuse) to re-stock your stash with all those wonderful new fabrics you just
couldn't justify buying before!
Please bring your donated fabrics to the next meeting (June 18th). We are looking for pieces of 100% cotton that
are larger than a fat eighth, and in BLUE, RED, YELLOW and/or CREAM. Larger pieces would be particulary useful, especially for the
backing. Also any spare threads you may have.
AGM 15th January 2016 Competition: The Letter H
As announced at this year’s AGM, next year’s competition subject is “The Letter H”. Your entry can be
linked to any word beginning with the letter H.
The rules are the same as usual. The maximum size of your quilt should be one metre square (imposed largely because of constraints in
hanging space). If you would like to make something three-dimensional that’s fine too.
Feel free to choose what you wish, but, to start you off, here are some suggestions - hedgehog, herringbone, hessian, hope, heritage,
horizontal, hieroglyphics, hallelujah, helix, haberdashery, hyacinth and, of course, ........ hexagon!
